China outshines Germany in solar power industry

German is facing an unpredictable crisis as China is now producing solar cells that are much cheaper and Q-Cells, the world's biggest solar cell producer, last week issued a far from glowing set of results, with losses of ¥700 million (S$1.4 billion) in the first half of the year.
Thus, they are forced to cut 500 jobs out of its 2600 jobs. Asian are now trying to beat Germans in the solar cells industry as it is much cheaper for them to produce solar cells. it costs German companies US$1.01 (S$1.46) per watt to produce a solar cell, Chinese companies can manufacture the same cell for 35 US cents per watt.
In my opinion, I feel that it is alright for China to produce solar cells even though Germans have been the ones who were producing the cells. However, competition is always necessary for the other companies to buck up and inprove their product so that they will not lack behind others and fall out of trend.
However, I feel sorry for the people who were fired as they were supposed to have a job but now, their families will be in financial difficulties. Thus, I hope they the people who lost their jobs can find a job soon.
